Ingredients:
– 250g or 1/2lb kadaif in a bag
– 250g or 1/2lb grounded walnuts
– 100g or 1 stick butter
– 1l or 1 qt water
– 750g or 3.5 cups sugar
– 1 lemon
Instructions:
– Melt 1 stick butter
– Add 1/2 of kadaif and mix well
– Transfer to the bowl with the rest of kadaif (as shown) and mix everything as much as you can
– In a 9×13 pan, add half of the kadaif/butter mix
– Add all of the grounded walnuts on top and spread
– Add the other half of kadaif on top and bake for 15 mins on 400F/200C until golden brown
– Boil the water with sugar to make a simple syrup 5 minutes more after sugar dissolves. Set aside.
– Cut the lemon in two halves. Make a juice from one half, slice the other half
– Add the lemon juice 5 mins after the simple syrip is ready
– Pour the simple syrup over kadaif slowly, top with lemon slices
– Keep on top of the stove or inside cold oven overnight
