Ingredients:

  • 1 lb thin fillo dough, I use Apollo #4
  • 1 sour cabbage
  • 1 onion
  • 2 eggs
  • Vegetable or olive oil

Instructions:

  • Cut the cabbage into very small pieces and drain.
  • Cut the onion into very small pieces and saute with 4 Tbsp olive oil in a 4+ qt pot.
  • When done, add the cabbage and simmer on low for about 30 mins.
  • Set aside and let it cool for about 20-30 mins.
  • Add 1 egg into cabbage/onion and mix well.
  • Roll the fillo dough sheets, take one and oil it.
  • Add another sheet on top and oil it.
  • Add the 3d sheet, DO NOT oil it, but put the cabbage/onion mix
  • Roll from top to bottom and put in a oiled (4-5 Tbsp oil) 10″ x 14″ or 12″ x 16″ pan.
  • There are about 22 fillo dough sheets, so you can make 7 rolls. Use 4 sheets for the last roll.
  • Use one egg to glaze the rolls before baking and cut the rolls horizontally into thirds.
  • Bake for 20-30 mins on 350F or until golden brown.
  • Cover with wet paper towel for 20 mins after you take it out of the oven.
