Ingredients:

  • 1 med onion
  • 2-3 Tbsp oil
  • 1 med pepper
  • 3-4 oz carrots
  • 8 oz meat (optional)
  • 4 + 1 cups water
  • salt, pepper to taste, spices…
  • 4 oz tomatoes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup tarhana. You can buy it on Amazon.


Instructions:

  • Chop the veggies and saute them in a 3-4 qt pot with 2-3 Tbsps oil. Saute until onion is translucent. If you add tomatoes, add them at the end right before the onions are done.
  • Add 4 cups water and boil.
  • Cover and cook on medium for about 15 mins. If you have meat, cook about 25-30 mins.
  • In 1 warm cup water, dissolve 1/2 cup tarhana.
  • 5 mins before it’s done, add 1/2 cup tarhana but slowly so it doesn’t create lumps. Cook for another 5 mins.
